Enterprise AI search pricing comparison for 2026
What the main enterprise AI search products charge, checked against each vendor's own pricing page on October 16, 2026. Where a vendor does not publish a price, we say so and show the best third-party figure instead of guessing.
Why enterprise search prices are hard to compare.
The best-known names do not publish
Glean, Coveo and Guru quote privately. Google removed Gemini Enterprise seat prices from its site on October 9, 2026.
The add-on sits on a base license
Microsoft 365 Copilot is $30 on top of a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan, and Microsoft 365 E3 itself rose to $39 on July 1, 2026.
Usage charges on top of seats
Amazon Q Business bills index capacity separately, and Atlassian starts charging for extra Rovo credits on December 3, 2026.
Seats grow with headcount
Per-user pricing rises with every hire, whether or not that person searches much.

Three-year list price by company size.
Seats multiplied by the published monthly price for 36 months, with every employee given a seat. This is arithmetic on list prices, not a quote. Real contracts are usually lower at volume and higher once base licenses and add-ons are counted.
| Product (price used) | 500 employees | 1,000 employees | 5,000 employees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 Copilot ($30, add-on only) | $540,000 | $1,080,000 | $5,400,000 |
| Amazon Q Business Pro ($20, before index charges) | $360,000 | $720,000 | $3,600,000 |

Microsoft 365 Copilot costs more than $30 if you count the license under it.
Copilot is an add-on. A company on Microsoft 365 E3 pays $39 for E3 since the July 1, 2026 price change, plus $30 for Copilot, which is $69 per user per month for both. Organizations of 300 users or fewer can buy Copilot Business at $21 instead, and Microsoft 365 E7 bundles E5 with Copilot and Agent 365 at $99.
Copilot Chat is included with eligible Microsoft 365 plans at no extra cost, but it answers from the web. Answering from your own SharePoint, email and connected systems needs the paid Copilot license.
What the search service costs if you build in your own cloud.
Azure AI Search bills per search unit, which is replicas multiplied by partitions. Microsoft's uptime SLA needs at least two replicas. These are East US pay-as-you-go prices from the Azure retail price API on October 16, 2026, for the search service only. The language model, hosting and build work are extra.
| Setup | Configuration | Per month | Three years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pilot, no SLA | Basic tier, 1 partition, 1 replica, 15 GB | $73.73 | $2,654 |
| Small production | Basic tier, 1 partition, 2 replicas | $147.46 | $5,309 |
| Mid-size production | S1 tier, 1 partition, 2 replicas, 160 GB | $490.56 | $17,660 |
| Mid-size, full read-write SLA | S1 tier, 1 partition, 3 replicas | $735.84 | $26,490 |
| Large corpus or heavy vectors | S2 tier, 1 partition, 3 replicas, 512 GB | $2,943.36 | $105,961 |
The AWS equivalents.
Amazon OpenSearch Serverless costs $0.24 per OCU-hour plus $0.02 per GB-month of storage in US East. Classic production collections bill a minimum of two OCUs, about $350 a month, while the newer collections have no minimum and scale to zero when idle.
Amazon Kendra GenAI Enterprise Edition costs $0.32 per hour per index, about $230 a month, and includes 20,000 documents. Connectors are $30 per index per month.
Costs that do not appear on a pricing page.
Permissions cleanup is the cost most teams miss. Any AI search tool answers from whatever a person can already open, so oversharing in SharePoint or a shared drive turns into oversharing in answers. Fixing it is the same work whichever product you choose.
Connectors to less common systems often need a higher plan or custom work. If you build your own, the model usage for answers and embeddings sits on your cloud bill, and it is usually small next to the search service for internal question volumes, but it should be estimated from your real traffic before you commit.
When a per-seat product makes sense, and when a build does.
A per-seat product makes sense when most employees need search across many common SaaS tools and the seat price works at your headcount. If you already pay for Microsoft 365, start by testing Copilot on a cleaned-up slice of SharePoint before buying a second tool.
A build makes sense when one group of questions carries most of the value, such as policy questions for HR or specifications for the sales team, when the content must stay in your own cloud, or when the systems involved have no good connector. You pay for the search service and the build, not for every employee.

A cost estimate first
Search service and model usage estimated from your real document volume and traffic during scoping.
From workflow to working tool in two weeks.
Scope and sign
We define the workflow, the deliverables, and the acceptance criteria, and sign an agreement on them before anything starts.
Build
We build the tool in your environment, with Claude Code and automated evaluation against your own data.
Pay when it works
$10,000, due only after every criterion in the signed agreement is met. Nothing before that.
A first search build covers one group of questions and the systems that answer them. We sign the acceptance tests with you, build it in your Azure or AWS account in two weeks, and you pay $10,000 only after every test passes. The search service and model usage then run on your own cloud bill.

How much does enterprise AI search cost?
Products that publish prices charge $20 to $30 per user per month: Amazon Q Business Pro and GoSearch Pro are $20, and Microsoft 365 Copilot is $30 on top of a Microsoft 365 plan. Glean, Coveo and Guru do not publish prices. Building your own on Azure AI Search costs about $74 to $736 a month for the search service at mid-size, plus model usage and the build. Prices checked October 16, 2026.
How much does Glean cost?
Glean does not publish prices. Third-party procurement data from Vendr (February 2026) shows a median contract of $98,890 a year, and buyers report minimums of 100 to 250 users. The often-quoted figure of $50 per user per month comes from comparison blogs, not from Glean.
What does enterprise search cost for 5,000 employees?
At list price with every employee licensed, $3.6 million over three years at $20 per user per month and $5.4 million at $30, before base licenses or usage charges. Volume contracts are usually lower. A build in your own cloud is priced by content volume and traffic instead of headcount.
Is Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat free?
Copilot Chat is included with eligible Microsoft 365 plans at no extra cost, but it answers from the web. Answers grounded in your own Microsoft 365 content and connected systems need the paid Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
How much does Microsoft 365 Copilot cost for a small business?
Organizations with up to 300 users can buy Microsoft 365 Copilot Business at $21 per user per month, with a promotional price of $18 on annual billing through December 31, 2026. It requires a Microsoft 365 Business plan.
What does it cost to build enterprise search on Azure AI Search?
The search service runs from $73.73 a month for a Basic pilot to about $491 a month for a mid-size S1 setup with two replicas, which Microsoft requires for its uptime SLA. Language model usage, hosting and the build itself are extra.
